Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) and PTT Public Company Limited (PTT) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to conduct a feasibility study on air cargo business partnership. Mr Auttapol Rerkpiboon, PTT President and Chief Executive Officer, and Mr Suvadhana Sibunruang, Acting THAI Chief Executive Officer, signed the MoU at THAI’s Head Office on Vibhavadi Rangsit road. Mr Chansak Chuenchom, Senior Executive Vice President, Engineering and Infrastructure, and Mrs Varangkana Luerojvong, THAI Chief, Aviation Business Unit, were present to witness the signing. Mr Sibunruang said the air cargo industry has continued to expand with a high growth tendency. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, THAI has operated its cargo business and chartered flights to deliver domestic and international agricultural and manufacturing produces, frozen food, electronic devices, car parts, as well as types of products that require special care and attention such as medicines, and vaccines. As for the chartered flights, customers may select time and aircraft type to deliver their cargo on the routes to which THAI operates. The purpose of this MoU is to conduct a feasibility study on partnership opportunities for freighters, cargo warehouses, commercial platforms, and other related businesses. PTT, a highly competent organization with extensive businesses, and THAI would partner to enhance business opportunities, distribution channel expansion, and favourable business relations for synergy, future growth and development. This partnership also aims to boost the recovery of the national economy, support the National Strategy, and strengthen Thailand’s position as a regional cargo hub.

Mr Rerkpiboon said PTT strives for innovation and business opportunities to prepare for global competition with its vision of “Powering Life with Future Energy and Beyond.” PTT aims to establish logistics infrastructure, including land, water, and air freight delivery, as well as cargo management and digital platform development. Thanks to the partnership with an experienced partner, PTT is set to become a full-service third-party logistics service provider. In addition, PTT and THAI will be significant contributors to establishing a Southeast Asia cargo hub in Bangkok, which would sustainably elevate the Thai economy and people’s living standards.
