SpiceXpress, the air cargo arm of SpiceJet, today airlifted 2450 oxygen concentrators from Nanjing, China and Hong Kong to Kolkata and New Delhi. The airline has airlifted more than 6850 oxygen concentrators from the USA, Hong Kong, Singapore and China so far in the last two weeks.

SpiceHealth and other organizations have ordered the oxygen concentrators. SpiceHealth, a healthcare company launched by the promoters of SpiceJet, has been working actively with state governments and hospitals across the country to address the acute shortage of oxygen. This is the third big consignment of oxygen concentrators ordered and delivered to SpiceHealth.

The airline used its B737 freighter aircraft to airlift the concentrators from Hong Kong. The aircraft landed in Delhi at 5 a.m. today. SpiceXpress uses its wide-body aircraft to airlift oxygen concentrators from Nanjing, which will land in Delhi this evening.

SpiceHealth has been actively involved in the country’s fight against Covid-19. Since its launch in November 2020, SpiceHealth has conducted more than 2.2 million RT-PCR tests and has spread its operations across fives states – Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Kerala, Uttarakhand.

SpiceXpress had on April 24 airlifted 800 oxygen concentrators followed by another consignment of 1000 oxygen concentrators on April 28 from Hong Kong to Delhi for SpiceHealth for emergency use and distribution across India.

With a network spanning 63 domestic and 50 international destinations and a fleet of 19 cargo planes, SpiceXpress can fly over 600 tonnes of cargo daily to domestic and international destinations.

Since the lockdown began in March 2020, SpiceJet and SpiceXpress have played critical roles and worked relentlessly to ensure that the country’s supply chain remained intact. The airline has helped transport vital goods, medical supplies and fruits and vegetables to all corners of India and the world.

SpiceJet has transported more than 1.6 lakh tonnes of cargo since March 25, 2020. In addition, the airline has transported a record 88,802 kg of Covid vaccine shipment with a total dosage of 34 million Covid vaccines between January 12 and April 12, 2021.

To ensure seamless delivery of the Covid-19 vaccine both within and outside the country, SpiceJet has tied up with multiple partners, including Brussels Airport, GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo (GHAC), Adani Ahmedabad International Airport, among others. In addition, the airline has also teamed up with global leaders in cold chain solutions offering active and passive packaging and has the capability to transport extremely sensitive drugs and vaccines in controlled temperatures ranging from -40°c to +25°c.
