Japan Airlines (JAL), together with Sumitomo Corporation and Bell Textron Inc., flew a demonstration test using the APT 70 drone.

Japan is a country that is vulnerable to natural disasters due to its topography, geology, weather and other characteristics. Therefore, as one of the measures to prevent and mitigate disasters, we aim to build a new disaster response model utilizing the drone that can be assembled quickly.

JAL will effectively use the drone operation know-how and survey data obtained through this demonstration experiment. Furthermore, to realize the use of drones for various purposes, such as transporting goods and responding to emergencies during disasters, including in mountainous areas and remote islands, we will aim to conduct flight demonstrations in Japan in cooperation with local governments.

As a professional aviation company, JAL aims to create a prosperous and sustainable society through comprehensive air mobility operations that are safe and secure. We will utilize our operational know-how related to air travel to provide the next-generation transport and travel infrastructure that meets the region’s needs and promote initiatives to realize the JAL DRONE business while solving regional issues in areas such as disaster response and medical care.
